DEA Cage

Added Security with DEA Cages

Compliance is non-negotiable:

DEA cages are robust wire partitions specifically designed to meet the regulations established by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for the secure physical storage of Schedule III to V controlled substances, as outlined in Title 21 CFR, Sections 1301.72-1301.76, which detail the physical security controls. These cages are ideal for a variety of settings, including pharmaceutical companies, dispensaries, hospitals, clinics, record storage facilities, medical buildings, warehouses, and distribution centers.

They can be customized to fit any size or layout and can be integrated into existing facilities. DEA cages are designed to be self-closing and self-locking to protect against unauthorized access and tampering. If you are installing swing doors, these must be equipped with a closing mechanism, while swing gates should be weighted to close automatically without assistance. Additionally, the cages are seamlessly compatible with alarm systems and surveillance equipment, further enhancing overall security measures. Investing in a DEA cage is not just a compliance requirement; it’s a crucial step in safeguarding your valuable assets and ensuring the integrity of your operations.

Construction and flexibility are key:

The walls and ceiling panels of these cages must be constructed using at least No. 10 steel fabric, with openings no larger than 2-1/2 inches. Steel posts should be spaced no more than ten feet apart, with a minimum horizontal reinforcement of 1-1/2 inches required every 60 inches. “Cut-throughs” must be framed and designed to take 2 to 3 hours to breach. All hardware used in the construction of DEA cages must either be breakaway or welded directly to the structure to prevent tampering.

Panels can be stacked to any height and allow for clear spanning ceilings up to 30 feet high and 35 feet wide, which enables integration into the facility’s existing structure. The panels mount flush to the floor to ensure restricted access and utilize welded-on base plates for added security. Each hardware component is heavy-duty and inaccessible from the exterior, reinforcing the safety of your facility.

Furthermore, doors can be customized to be either self-closing or self-locking and can easily be accessed using card readers or ten-digit keypads. Various lock options are available to meet specific security requirements.

Key highlights include:

  • Walls and ceiling panels are made of heavy 10 gauge wire with a standard 2″ x 1″ rectangular opening.
  • Steel support posts must be set no more than 10 feet apart with horizontal reinforcement every 60 inches.
  • Panels can be stacked to any height, allowing for customization and integration into existing structures.
  • Self-closing and self-locking doors with various lock options, including card readers and keypads.
  • Panels mount flush to the floor for restricted access.
  • Must have a ceiling of the same materials, or be erected to reach the structural ceiling of the building.
  • Heavy-duty hardware and reinforced construction for maximum security.
